A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE DADE COUNTY
CANVASSING BOARD TO SERVE AS CANVASSING
BOARD FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
NOVEMBER 13, 1997 RUN-OFF ELECTION.
WHEREAS, on November 13, 1997, Dade County will be conducting elections at which time the
City of Miami Beach has authorized the holding of a Run-Off Election; and
WHEREAS, Dade County is charged with the full responsibility of conducting the aforesaid
election, except for accepting the Dade County Department of Election's certificate of elections concerning
the results of the City of Miami Beach's Run-Off Election; and
WHEREAS, the Dade County Canvassing Board shall be charged with the statutory
responsibilities relating to the conduct of elections for the election and is authorized to act as Canvassing
Board for the City of Miami Beach for the City's Run-Off Election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DUL Y RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that the Dade County Canvassing Board is hereby
authorized to act as Canvassing Board for the November 13, 1997 Run-Off Election of the City of Miami
Beach.

SUBJECT: ACCEPTING CITY OF MIAMI BEACH GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS
AND CALLING RUN-OFF ELECTION
The attached three Resolutions formally adopt the certificate of results of the City of Miami
Beach November 4, 1997 General Election and adjourn the Canvassing Board for said election, call
for the City of Miami Beach November 13, 1997 Run-Off Election, and designate the Canvassing
Board for the Run-Off Election; these resolutions are necessary because no candidate for Mayor or
Commission Group numbers r, II, and rv from the General Election received a majority of votes
cast. Accordingly, and pursuant to Miami Beach City Charter Section 2.01, a Run-Off Election shall
be called for November 13, 1997 between the two candidates in the Mayoral Group and in
Commission Group numbers I, II, and IV receiving the highest number of votes in the General
Election.
