99-23386 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 99-23386 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OFTHE CITYOF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF ELEVEN NEW NONIN MODEL 9843 PULSE OXIMETER AND CARBON DIOXIDE DETECTORS FROM MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL'S AUXILIARY UNIT, VALUED AT $20,000; FOR USE BY THE MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE RESCUE UNITS AND ENGINE COMPANIES FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT OF THE CRITICALLY ILL. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach Fire Rescue Units and Engine Companies are in need of updated technological devices to monitor and treat critically ill patients; and WHEREAS, Mount Sinai Hospital's Auxiliary Unit wishes to donate eleven (11) Nonin Model 9843 Pulse Oximeter and Carbon Dioxide Detectors, valued at $20,000, to the Miami Beach Fire Department Rescue Units and Engine Companies in recognition of Emergency Medical Services Week. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City herein accepts the eleven (11) new Nonin Model 9843 Pulse Oximeter and Carbon Dioxide Detectors, valued at $20,000, as a donation from Mount Sinai Hospital's Auxiliary Unit and that the equipment will remain in the custody and become part of the City of Miami Beach Fire Department's inventory, and shall be serviced and maintained as is all other similar equipment. Kasdin and Members of the City C mission DATE: November 17,1999 FROM: Sergio Rodriguez City Manager , SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OF ELEVEN NEW NONIN MODEL 9843 PULSE OXIMETER AND CARBON DIOXIDE DETECTORS DONATED BY THE MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL AUXILIARY FOR USE BY FIRE RESCUE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution. ANALYSIS: On October 22, 1999, The Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary donated eleven new Nonin Model 9843 Pulse Oximeter and Carbon Dioxide Detectors to the Fire Rescue Division of the Fire Department. The value of the donated equipment is $20,000. The Pulse Oximeter and Carbon Dioxide Detectors will be carried on all Resuce Units and Fire Engines. The new equipment is a combination device which will replace older single use disposable capnometers and the single function pulse oximeters. This cutting edge equipment will enable our Paramedics to privide the best possible care to our most critically ill patients. The Fire Department Medical Director, Dr. Harry Heinitsh has reviewed and authorized the use of the new equipment by our Fire Rescue personnel.
