Miami Dade Commissioner Natasha Seijas is proposing on Tuesday, June 7,2005 at 9:30 a.m.(or
sometime thereafter) item 4H on.the Miami Dade County Agenda. The following ordinance:
ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 93-91, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE
96-101, TO RESCIND TWO CENTS OF THE REMAINING THREE CENTS OF THE 1993 FIVE
CENTS CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS LOCAL OPTION GAS TAX; PROVIDING WAIVER OF SECTION
2-1 OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, RULE 5.06(F); DIRECTING CLERK
OF THE BOARD TO MAIL CERTIFIED COPY HEREOF TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
REVENUE IN TALLAHASEE FLORIDA; AND PROVIDING SEVERBILlTY, INCLUSION IN CODE AND
EFFECTIVE DATE
I was advised that this is a first hearing, NOT a public hearing, unless one of the Commission Members
waives the rule. Additionally, they usually do not discuss the item amongst themselves at the first
hearing. I was further informed that they will vote on the matter and if it passes it will then be scheduled
for a public hearing at a Committee level and the Chair will decide which Committee it will be assigned
to on that day. .
It is important that we monitor this item, write or call each Miami-Dade County Commissioner a letter
expressing opposition to this ORDINANCE. If possible please fax the league a copy (305)416-4157 or
e-mail usatMDCLC@bellsouth.net. The League Attorney Mr. Howard Lenard is preparing a resolution
on behalf of the League and will have it delivered on Tuesday.
