Gonzalez City Manager "Movie in the Park~J Hurricane Relief Date: September 29, 2005 A record 1,050 residents and guests turned out at North Shore Park for the Friday, September 23, 2005, "Movie in the Park"and Hurricane Relief event. While the movie and the popcorn were free, the participants paid for carnival rides, games, food and beverages and wound up spending a total of $2,090 to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Parks & Recreation Department partnered with Nautilus Middle School whose band raised $175 and with Fienberg-Fisher Elementary School teachers and Parents who painted faces and raised $50. The Parks and Recreation Department raised the balance of $1,865 by selling tickets for the carnival rides and for food and beverages. A photo montage of the event is attached.
