APPOINTMENT OF,.~CHIEF DE LUCCA TO THE IACP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
This Letter to the City Commission is to announce the selection of Police Chief Donald De Lucca for
a position on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
The International Association of Chiefs of Police is dedicated to advancing the science and art of
police services; to develop and disseminate improved administrative, technical and operational
practices and promote their use in police work; to foster police cooperation and the exchange of
information and experience among police administrators throughout the world; to bdng about
recruitment and training in the police profession of qualified persons; and to encourage adherence of
all police officers to high professional standards of performance and conduct.
Throughout the past lO0-plus years, the IACP has been launching historically acclaimed programs,
conducting ground-breaking research and providing exemplary programs and services to our
membership across the globe. Professionally recognized programs such as the FBI Identification
Division and the Uniform Cdme Records system can trace their origins back to the I^CP. In fact, the
IACP has been instrumental in forwarding breakthrough technologies and philosophies from the early
years of our establishment to now, as we approach the 21st century. From spearheading national
use of fingerprint identification to partnering in a consortium on community policing to gathering top
experts in cdminal justice, the government and education for summits on violence, homicide, and
youth violence, IACP has realized their responsibility to positively effect the goals of law
enforcement.
The Executive Committee is the policy making body of the IACP and is responsible for developing
the means by which our association provides leadership in the world of law enforcement. Chief De
Lucca has been selected to represent the "Cities from 100,000 to 500,000 Population" position.
