SUBJECT: TREE PLANTING AT NORTH SHORE OPEN SPACE PARK
You are cordially invited to attend a morning of events at North Shore Open Space Park
Saturday, April 8, 2006 designed to beautify and restore the native tree canopy destroyed by
Hurricanes Wilma and Katrina. The City of Miami Beach Parks & Recreation Department is
partnering with Leadership Miami in this project to recognize the park's important role in our
"vibrant, tropical, historic community."
A 9:00 a.m. registration near the north park entrance at 8th Street will be followed by a 9:30
a.m. lecture by the City's Urban Forester, Dr. Christopher Latt, on the ecological importance
of the park, and a demonstration of proper tree planting techniques. Volunteers will plant
approximately 50-trees, including sea grapes and other native species.
The United States Coast Guard will provide food and refreshments for volunteers.
