039-2000 LTCCITY OF MIAMI BEACH CITY HALL 1700 CONVENTION CENTER DRIVE MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA 33139 http:\~ci.rniarni-beach .fi.us LETTER TO COMMISSION L.T.C. No. 39-2000 February 29, 2000 TO: FROM: Mayor Neisen O. Kasdin and Members of the City Commission Lawrence A. Levy ~ City Manager SUBJECT: SUNSET ISLAND PROPERTY OWNERS On Friday, February 25, 2000, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) completed the project of upgrading the underground conduits/wiring work on Sunset Islands I & II. During November 1999, the south side area of the park was sodded by the FPL contractor. City staff and members of FPL have been inspecting these islands routinely along with members of the Island Association. Additionally, on Wednesday, February 16, 2000, City staff met with FPL on other issues, and while driving around the islands they found the park in good condition. No FPL vehicles were found in the park. There were vehicles parked on the new sod which appeared to be owned by private construction contractors. The Parking Department will designate the perimeter of the park as "Prohibited Parking". Signs stating "No Parking Anytime/Tow-Away Zone" will be posted. Upon completion of this installation, proggressive enforcement will begin in the form of warnings, citations and vehicle impoundment, if necessary. Each step will be for a three (3) month period. The area will continue to be monitored to ensure that prohibited parking does not recur. In addition, residents are always encouraged to report illegally parked vehicles to the Parking Department or Police Department. C: Matthew D.
