Funding Recommendations for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), H:P~~and
Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG) Activities for FY 2000/01 c-J

On May 16,2000, the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) and the Administration concluded the pre-
planning phase of the development of the One-Year Action Plan for Federal Funds for FY 2000/01. Attached is the funding
ledger with proposed CDBG and ESG eligible activities and funding recommendations for those activities. This information
will be made available for citizen review and comment in the draft of the One- Year Action Plan. The public comment period
for the draft Action Plan will begin June 1 and end on June 30, 2000. In addition to the public review and comment period for
this federally mandated document, there will be a public hearing held on June 27, 2000 in the First Floor Conference Room
at 6: 15 p.m. for citizen comments, support or disagreement on the attached funding recommendations and activities. This
information will be incorporated into the final One-Year Action Plan to be presented to the City Commission at the July 12th
meeting for approval. Once approved by the Commission, the document will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) on or before the submission deadline of August 16,2000.
The Department of Community/Economic Development (ClEO) received a total of 57 applications for federal funds under the
Community Development Block Grant and the Emergency Shelter Grants programs. Of the applications received, five were
for ESG funds with a total request in the amount of$173,714, and fifty-two applications were received for CDBG with a total
request in the amount of$5,563,371. As in previous years, the amount requested exceeded the amount of funds that the
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated to the City of Miami Beach for FY 2000/01. The City has
been notified that for fiscal year 2000/01, there will be $2,770,000 for CDBG funding and $98,000 for ESG homeless and
homeless prevention activities. The proposed funding recommendations include prior year funds available for reprogramming.
Attached is a list of the applicants with the corresponding amounts they have requested. The attached list represents all requests
received including those for homeless activities, public services, housing, rehabilitation and other capital improvements.
