A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA PROCLAIMING THE
WEEK OF JUNE 19-23, 2000 AS CODE
ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS APPRECIATION
WEEK AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
FOR THE DEDICATION AND OUTSTANDING
SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE INDIVIDUALS
WHO SERVE AS CODE COMPLIANCE
OFFICERS IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, Code Compliance Officers provide for the safety, health, and welfare of the
citizens in the City of Miami Beach through the enforcement of building, zoning, housing, animal
control, fire safety, and environmental codes and ordinances; and
WHEREAS, Code Compliance Officers are consistently improving the quality oflife for our
residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, Code Compliance Officers are often not credited for the jobs that they do in
saving lives and improving neighborhoods, as are emergency personnel such as police, fire, and
emergency medical service providers; and
WHEREAS, every day, assisted by support and program staff, Code Compliance Officers
attempt to provide quality customer service to the public for the betterment of the community; and
WHEREAS, too many times the efforts of Code Compliance Officers go unnoticed, even
after code compliance has been accomplished due to their efforts and expertise; and
WHEREAS, Code Compliance Officers are dedicated, well trained, and highly responsible
individuals who take their jobs seriously and are proud of their department and the local government
within which they serve; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.) has declared that the
fourth week of June, 2000 be set aside by local government to honor and recognize their Code
Enforcement or Code Compliance Officers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the week of June 19-23,
2000 is hereby proclaimed as Code Enforcement Officers Appreciation Week and, in accordance
with the statewide observance of the same, encourage the citizens of the City of Miami Beach to join
the Mayor and City Commissioners in expressing appreciation for the dedication and outstanding
service provided by the individuals who serve as Code Compliance Officers in the City of Miami
Beach, Florida.
