RESOLUTION NO. 2000-23935
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE HEALTH RESOURCES AND
HUMAN SERVICES GRANT APPLICATION BEING SUBMITTED BY A
CONSORTIA OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PROVIDERS LED BY STANLEY C.
MYERS COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER.
WHEREAS, the health of a community's residents is paramount to the health of the community; and
WHEREAS, the cost of health care limits access to health care by many of our community's residents;
and
WHEREAS, many residents within our community may be eligible for health insurance programs but
may not be aware of their eligibility; and
WHEREAS, the holistic approach to health care utilizes existing resources to meet unmet community
needs; and
WHEREAS, the promotion of preventive health will reduce ambulatory care costs as well as the cost
of unnecessary human suffering resulting from poor or no health care; and
WHEREAS, the grant seeks to acquire funds for infrastructure development among health care
providers including technology infrastructure and community awareness campaigns; and
WHEREAS, the support of this grant will encourage cooperation and communication among health
care providers and other community-based services providers such as social service providers; and
WHEREAS, the need to improve the community's infrastructure is key to improving access to
healthcare.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission endorse the Health
Resources and Human Services grant application being submitted by a consortia of community service
providers led by Stanley C. Myers Community Health Center.
