For Seniors - The Senior Scenes program at North Shore Park Youth Center kicked off the
fall season with a new series of Friday programs offered by the City of Miami Beach in
conjunction with Miami-Dade County Mayor's Initiative on Aging. The goal of the series is to
help promote health awareness within the senior community and observe the progress of
each participant. The health awareness program, which consists of over 75 seniors meets
every Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Recreation Expo- The Parks and Recreation department held their Fall Recreation Expo on
August 26,2006, at North Shore Park and Youth Center. The Recreation Expo gives parents
and children a convenient means of registering for various Parks & Recreation Athletics
teams such as Intramural Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Primer Basketball Clinics, and 3-
on-3 Basketball League. In beautiful weather, over 500 people came to enjoy the fun, the
BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, a bounce house, rock climbing wall, a bungee station, and a
sumo-wrestling ring!
Movie in the Park - On Friday, September 8, 2006, North Shore Park hosted its 5th Movie in
the Park attracting over 600 Miami Beach residents. Children and adults of all ages came
together to enjoy the X-MEN themed event filled with food, music, and entertainment.
Complimentary bags of popcorn were also available for everyone as they viewed the
featured presentation "X-MEN - The Last Stand". One of the highlights of the evening was
when X-Men characters, Wolverine and Storm, arrived to meet and greet the crowd. The
children had the opportunity to take pictures with the super heroes and enjoy the various
play areas located throughout the field.
