Subject: Award for Innovation in Public Procurement - Miami Beach WiFi
The purpose of this LTC is to inform you that the National Institute of
Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), at its 61st Annual Forum and Products
Exposition, announced that the City of Miami Beach's WiFi Initiative received the
award for Innovation in Public Procurement.
NIGP's awards for Innovation are presented to agencies that demonstrate
"cutting-edge", non-standard, forward thinking through the design and
implementation of new programs.
NIGP recognized the City's WiFi Initiative and presented the award "for its
demonstrated leadership in the area of innovative practices related to
technology, communication and community outreach, while ensuring
transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the expenditure of public funds."
Through the aforementioned award, NIGP gave recognition to the outstanding
efforts made by our Chief Financial Officer Trish Walker; IT Director Gladys
Acosta; Telecommunications Manager Ariel Sosa; Systems Support Manager
Nelson Martinez; and Procurement Director Gus Lopez.
