SUBJECT: CAC Endorsement of New World Symphony Proposal
At its regular meeting of February 2,2007, the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council passed a
motion, approved unanimously, supporting the New World Symphony's request for $15
million in funding from the City of Miami Beach towards the construction of its new Frank
Gehry-designed building and park. In its motion, the CAC stated their belief that this project
will significantly help to sustain and promote the performing and visual arts in Miami Beach
by offering a unique, architecturally-significant public space and expanded arts programming
for residents and visitors.
