submitted for your information, A follow-up tour of the area is scheduled for July, at which time

The North Beach Task Force has focused on the Temple Menorah and surrounding area as one of
its main concerns, Two tours of the area took place in March,
The Police Department has responded to the following issues,
The buildings identified as having drug activities were forwarded to the Strategic Investigations
Unit. Arrests have been made in one of the buildings, 33074 Street, Additionally due to
continued police presence, one of the alleged dealers living directly across from the Temple
moved out.
Watch orders and extra police presence have been assigned to the area in and around the Temple
Menorah, On May 22, a new program, called the Neighborhood Resource Officer, will begin,
This Officer will prioritize the Temple Menorah as one his main concerns, The Neighborhood
Resource Officer will concentrate his efforts on reducing and eliminating vandalism, (mainly
graffiti), This graffiti problem is the primary problem affecting the Temple,
One of Rabbi Pearlson's complaints was that a phone at 200 South Shore was being used for
illegal activities, This phone was monitored and no unusual activity was seen during this period,
Another question raised at the tour, was the status ofa resident of Section 8 Housing if he is
arrested for a Felony, According to Charles Burkett, Chainnan of the Housing Authority, a
person has to be convicted of a felony to lose his Section 8 Housing,
A comprehensive approach using Code Enforcement, Sanitation, Parks, and the Police
Department under the North Beach Task Force is the key to improving this neighborhood, To
date, most of the issues and problems raised at this tour have been achieved, There will be a a
follow up visit in July to observe the conditions around Temple Menorah,

Please make sure LOI's have been done on these bldgs in the past 6
months and prepare a response.
Larry, follow-up was done on Temple Menorah and progress has been
made. Task Force is "newly invigorated".

Larry,
Follow our last tour of North Beach in the area of Temple
Menorah, I received a comment from one of the property owners in
the area. He informed me that there are five apartment buildings
in that neighborhood which create the problem conditions in the
neighborhood. Can you please let me know whether the following
addresses have code violations or have incidents requiring police
presence?
When will the next follow up meeting of the North Beach Task
Force take place? Has there been any record of follow up from
the last Task Force Tour of the Temple Menorah area?
