A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ABOLISHING THE EXISTING RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING AREAS AND CREATING NEW RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING AREAS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 44-84 OF THE MIAMI BEACH CITY CODE. Accordingly, the first test area was recommended to be between fifth and fifteenth Streets and Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue (east side). In accordance with the guidelines set forth in the enabling legislation, the City CommissiDn adopted Resolution No. 90-19985, scheduling a public hearing for the purpose of obtaining public input frOl residents of the affected area and establishing a fee schedule for the permits. The attached resolution de11neates the specific target area of Residential Parking Program (RPP) Phase I (fifth to fifteenth Streets, Ocean Drive to Collins (east) Avenue respectively). The resolution also authorizes the City Manager to implement this program for a six-month period followed by an evaluation of the program to determine its continuation. The resolution also establishes the cost of the six month perm1-t at $75.00. The RPP Permit would not be honored outside of the target zone. It would, in effect, be over and above all other permits sold by the Parking Department.. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends that the CHy Connission of the City of Miami Beach adopt the attached resolution which authorizes the City Manager to implement a six-month residential parking program as defined with an evaluation to be completed at the close of the specified six-month period.
