RESOLUTION NO. 2000-24186
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SETTING THE DATES FOR THE
YEAR 2001 CITY COMMISSION MEETINGS
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.04 of the Miami Beach City Charter, "the City
Commission shall meet at such times as may be prescribed by ordinance or resolution."; and
WHEREAS, the proposed dates for the Year 2001 City Commission meetings are as set
forth on the attached Exhibit A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby set the dates for the Year 2001 City Commission meetings as set forth on the
attached Exhibit A.

CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SETTING THE DATES FOR THE
YEAR 2001 CITY COMMISSION MEETINGS

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS:
Pursuant to Section 2.04 of the Miami Beach City Charter, "The City Commission shall meet at such
times as may be prescribed by ordinance or resolution".
In preparing the recommended meeting dates, the Administration set two goals: 1) schedule
meetings on a three (3) week cycle; and, 2) schedule all meetings on Wednesdays.
The Administration met the goals with the following three (3) exceptions:
Exception 1: In July a commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, and a second
commission meeting is scheduled one week later for Wednesday, July 25, It is the intent of the
Administration to present at the July 25 meeting an agenda which will contain primarily budget-
related items and set the tentative millage rate.
Exception 2: The second meeting in September, Thursday, September 20, is scheduled two (2)
weeks after the previous meeting instead of three (3) weeks because of the need for budget public
hearings. In addition, the meeting has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday, September 20
because Rosh Hashanah is Monday, September 17 and Tuesday, September 18.
Exception 3: A commission meeting has been set for November 14 in the event of a runoff election.
It is recommended that the City Commission meetings be set as follows:
Wednesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 31.

In preparing the calendar, City-designated holidays and religious holidays have been taken into
consideration. Exhibit "A" reflects the proposed meeting dates for 2001, Exhibit "B" is a list of
City of Miami Beach holidays. Exhibits "C" is a list of Jewish holidays.
The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission approve the proposed listing
of City Commission meetings dates for the year 2001,
