SUBJECT: Personnel Board Group 3 Election
Pursuant to Ordinance No. 93-2868, on August 16, 2007 the City Clerk's Office began
election procedures to replace the Representative of Group 3 for the Personnel Board to
replace Jimmie W. Newton, who resigned effective September 1, 2007.
On August 16, 2007 a notice informing that all eligible employees who were interested in
running for the Group 3 Representative could file their candidacy in the City Clerk's Office
from Monday, August 20, 2007 through Friday, August 31, 2007 was emailed City Wide and
also emailed to all Department Directors and Division Directors.
Ms. Evette L. Phillips, Storekeeper I from the Parks and Recreation Department, was the
only employee who filed to fill the vacancy in Group 3; therefore, Ms. Evette L. Phillips was
elected without opposition as Representative of Group 3 for the Personnel Board, beginning
on September 1, 2007 until the end of the term, which will end on July 31, 2009.
Group 1: Consists of Police Department, Fire Department and Beach Patrol Department employees
Group 2: Consists of employees in clerical and executive positions
Group 3: Consists of all other employees

We, the undersigned Clerk and Inspector, do hereby certify, that a qualifying period of
ten (10) working days, from Monday, August 20, 2007 through Friday, August 31, 2007,
to file for Representative of Group 3 for the Personnel Board to replace Jimmie W.
Newton, who resigned effective September 1, 2007, was noticed to all City employees
via City Wide email and emailed to all Department Directors and Division Directors with
instructions to post and distribute the notice among their employees that belong to
Group 3.
