SUBJECT: Miami Beach Parks & Recreation "Recreation Review" Receives State Award
The City of Miami Beach's Parks and Recreation Department was awarded the Media
Excellence Award from The Florida Recreation and Park Association, a statewide non-profit
organization representing local government parks and recreation interests in the State of
Florida.
The "Recreation Reviev~' won the Media Excellence Award in the Recreation Catalogue
category. Awards chair Terri Owen stated, "Recreation Review plays a major role in Miami
Beach's goal to educate the community on the importance of a good quality of life. Through
its design, composition and photograph, the publication encourages parents to take
advantage of the broad spectrum of programs designed to teach good nutrition and the
importance of staying active."
The Recreation Review, the Parks and Recreation Department's program and informational
magazine is published three times a year and mailed out to every Miami Beach household.
In 2004, the Recreation Review Summer edition was nationally recognized with the Circle of
Excellence Award by the City County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA).
Jackie Gonzalez, Public Information Specialist and the Recreation Review's design and
graphic artist for the Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department accepted the award at
the Associa ' n's August 30, 2007 Awards Ceremony.
