RESOLUTION NO. 96-21941
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A SCULPTURE AND
FIVE VOLUMES OF PAPERS DONATED TO THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH BY MR. AND MRS. HANK MEYER.
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hank Meyer have offered'to donate a sculpture and five volumes
of papers to the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Art in Public Places Committee has recommended that the City accept the
sculpture and that it be placed in the Miami Beach Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, the five volumes of papers reflect a partial compilation of the happenings and
activities during the "Hank Meyer Era".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the sculpture and five
volumes of papers donated by Mr. and Mrs. Hank Meyer are accepted)un!that the donated sculpture
be placed in the Miami Beach Convention Center, in the lobby area of Hall B.

SUBJECT:
A RESOLUTION AC PTING THE DONATION OF A SCULPTURE AND FIVE VOLUMES
OF PAPERS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH BY MR. AND MRS. HANK MEYER.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission pass and adopt the attached Resolution.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. and Mrs. Hank Meyer have offered to donate to the City of Miami Beach a sculpture that was designed
by Mr. Meyer and was done by Mrs. Meyer. On March 11, 1996, the offer for this donation was presented
to the Art in Public Places Committee for its recommendation as to acceptance and appropriate placement
of the sculpture. The Art in Public Places Committee recommended that the donation be accepted and that
the sculpture be placed in the lobby of the Miami Beach Convention Center. The Committee feels that the
sculpture is a very important historical piece designed by Mr. Hank Meyer that could be viewed by all
Convention Center visitors.
On March 13, 1996, Mr. and Mrs. Hank Meyer were informed of and accepted the Committee's
recommendation. The sculpture will be placed at the Miami Beach Convention Center in the lobby area of
Hall B.
Additionally, the Meyers will be donating five volumes of papers reflecting a partial compilation of the
happenings and activities during the "Hank Meyer Era".
CONCLUSION:
The donation from Mr. and Mrs. Hank Meyer should be accepted by the Mayor and City Commission.
