A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING A
PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER CO-NAMING THAT
PORTION OF 19TH STREET LOCATED BETWEEN
CONVENTION CENTER DRIVE AND MERIDIAN AVENUE AS
"JERUSALEM STREET" FOR THE BALANCE OF 1996.
WHEREAS, 1996 is the 3000th anniversary of the City of
Jerusalem and, in celebration thereof, cities worldwide are
renaming streets in honor of this City; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1996, the Community Affairs Committee
considered a proposal to co-name that portion of 19th Street
located between Convention Center Drive and Meridian Avenue as
"Jerusalem Street" for the balance of 1996; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V of Miami Beach City Code
Chapter 39, the Mayor and City Commission must now hold a public
hearing to consider the aforesaid co-naming.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a public
hearing to consider co-naming that portion of 19th Street located
between Convention Center Drive and Meridian Avenue as "Jerusalem
Street" for the balance of 1996 is hereby called to be held before
the Mayor and City Commission in their Chambers on the Third Floor
of City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida on
Wednesday, May 1, 1996, beginning at 10:50 a.m., and the City Clerk
is hereby authorized and directed to publish appropriate Public
Notice of the said Public Hearing in a newspaper of general
circulation in the City of Miami Beach, at which time and place all
interested parties will be heard.

Pursuant to the request of Mayor Seymour Gelber, this matter came before the Community
Affairs Committee on March 8, 1996. Pursuant to Chapter 39 of the City Code, the proposal to co-
name that portion of 19th Street located between Convention Center Drive and Meridian Avenue as
"Jerusalem Street" for the balance of 1996 is now submitted to the Commission for consideration.
