A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING A
PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER CO-NAMING THAT
PORTION OF MERIDIAN AVENUE LOCATED BETWEEN
39TH STREET AND BARRY AVENUE AS "REVEREND
JAMES P. MURPHY'S WAY".
WHEREAS, for over ten years, Reverend James P. Murphy served
the Miami Beach community as pastor of St. Patrick's Church; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1996, the Community Affairs Committee
considered a proposal to co-name that portion of Meridian Avenue
located between 39th Street and Barry Avenue as "Reverend James P.
Murphy's Way"; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V of Miami Beach City Code
Chapter 39, the Mayor and City Commission must now hold a public
hearing to consider the aforesaid co-naming.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a public
hearing to consider co-naming that portion of Meridian Avenue
located between 39th Street and Barry Avenue as "Reverend James P.
Murphy's Way" is hereby called to be held before the Mayor and City
Commission in their Chambers on the Third Floor of City Hall, 1700
Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida on Wednesday, May 1,
1996, beginning at 11:00 a.m", and the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to publish appropriate Public Notice of the
said Public Hearing in a newspaper of general circulation in the
City of Miami Beach, at which time and place all interested parties
will be heard"
