SUBJECT: Hispanic Heritage Festivities at North Shore Park
North Shore Park Youth Center will host its second annual Hispanic Heritage Festival on
Friday, October 12, 2007 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The event will focus on the celebration,
achievements and contributions of Hispanics from past to present. In addition to the
educational experience, children, adults, and seniors will be able to enjoy a variety of
activities to include a Salsa & Merengue dance contest, children's dance performances,
music, rides, amini-tasting village and an annual awards ceremony.
Children from North Shore Park, Scott Rakow Youth Center and Flamingo Park's after
school program will present a variety of dance performances to music sung by popular
Hispanic artists and groups such as Carlos Vives, Elvis Crespo, Oro Solido, and Los
Rolands. In addition to the wonderful entertainment, there will be a variety of authentic Latin
dishes for children and adults to enjoy as they mingle amongst the crowd to the sound of
Latin music!
