SUBJECT: Ballot Recount for Commission Group V
The City of Miami Beach held the General and Special Elections on Tuesday, November 6,
2007. As a result of said election, in the Commission Group V seat, there were a total of
4,594 votes cast for candidate Ed Tobin and 4,563 votes cast for candidate Michael
Gongora.
Due to the fact that the unofficial returns for Commission Group V reflected a difference of
less than one-half of a percent or less of the votes cast for such office, a mandatory machine
recount shall take place at 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 7th, as announced at
today's Commission Meeting. This recount has been confirmed by the Miami-Dade
Elections Department. The final election results for Group V will be adopted by the Miami
Beach City Commission on November 21, 2007.
Anyone interested in observing this mandatory recount can be present at the Miami-Dade
County Elections Department located at 2700 87th Avenue today at 4:00 p.m. Both
candidates have been notified.
