SUBJECT: Unofficial Results of Mandatory Machine Recount
At the Commission Meeting on Wednesday, November 7 and via LTC 251-2007, the City
Commission was advised that due to the fact that the unofficial returns for Commission Group
V reflected a difference of less than one-half of a percent or less of the votes cast for such
office, a mandatory machine recount shall take place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November
7th at the Miami-Dade County Elections Department. Candidate Gongora and candidate Tobin
attended and observed the recount.
The machine recount was completed and the Canvassing Board composed of County Court
Judge George A. Sarduy, Chairperson, Board of County Commissioner, Carlos A. Gimenez,
Member, and Supervisor of Elections Lester Sola, Member, determined that the results were
the same with the exception of accepting four (4) additional provisional ballots. The four (4)
additional provisional ballots were counted with three (3) of the votes going to candidate Tobin
and one (1) vote going to candidate Gongora. The results are as follows:

It should be noted that there are six (6) rejected provisional ballots remaining and the six voters
have until 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 9, to meet with the Supervisor of Elections to determine
if their provisional ballot should be counted.
The Official Results and Certification of Election will be provided to the City Clerk at the close
of business day on Friday, November 9 and presented to the City Commission for adoption at
the November 21, 2007 Commission Meeting.
