LTC 255-2007 New MBTV 77 Schedule and Programs~ MIAMIBEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER LETTER TO COMMISSION NO. LTC # Zs5-2oo~ ~ ~ -=+ -° 0 "' o ~rl TO: Mayor David Dermer and Members of the City Commission ~ - '~ `-~ 00 ,~ FROM: Jorge M. Gonzalez, City Manager ~, r,,° ~ ;~ DATE: November 8, 2007 ~~~ SUBJECT: New MBTV 77 Schedule and Programs <=> o t° As part of Miami Beach's ongoing efforts to provide enhanced information about the City to the community via our government access cable TV station MBTV 77, we are airing two new programs, and have revised the station's broadcast/programming schedule. These new programs and schedule changes are aimed at providing residents with an increased number of locally-originated programs, and more convenient times throughout the week to view these programs. We are now broadcasting a special, new program "The Survey Says," a 30-minute question-by-question review of the City's recent Community Satisfaction Survey, featuring interviews with Office of Budget and Performance Improvement Director Kathie Brooks and myself, as well as informational stories on areas where improvements have been noted. We are also now airing another new program, "Planned Progress: Our Capital Improvement Program." This 30-minute program updates residents on completed CIP projects, those in progress and still others in the design stage. Residents and CIP Project Managers help tell the story that the CIP program is moving into the City's neighborhoods, that "progress" will mean temporary inconvenience and that the City is doing everything possible to minimize these inconveniences. In addition, the latest monthly installment of "CityVision," the City's 30-minute magazine show produced monthly by our Communications Department specifically to illustrate the City's progress in meeting the goals of our Strategic Plan, is also now airing. The new MBTV broadcast schedule incorporates these new programs into the schedule, along with other programs produced by our Communications Office (e.g. CityVision, Women Worth Knowing, Plan and Prepare Miami Beach, etc.) while providing viewers with frequent, regular times to see replays of the City Commission meetings and the five City Commission-appointed Boards and Committees. Coming up shortly, the City will debut a new, half-hour program "MBCulture" that will focus on all of the arts and culture opportunities that City has to offer. Hosted by former TV reporter/anchor Ileana Bravo -also the vice-chair of our Cultural Arts Council -the program includes informational stories on the venues, programs and organizations that create a rich cultural environment on the beach. The show also includes "live" interviews with local representatives for events and organizations. A revised schedule will be posted on-line once this program is added to the rotation. Additional new, original programming is under development. Attached, please find copies of the October and November CityVision, as well as Survey Says and Planned Progress. We have also attached a revised schedule for your convenience. As you know, our Commission/Committee meetings, as well as most of our programming, are also available via Webcast on the Internet. As always, please feel free to call me should you have any questions or require additional information. Should you wish to recycle your DVD's, please contact Jay Moore at x7575. 0 w- m ~~ .a o ~ O ~ N U r ~ ~ C I o ,~ .N O > ~ d ~ d ~ H y r~ > r~ O ~z F- m 9lu C ~ U ~C U p O o ~ 0 0 ~p p ~ m ~ ~ N~ a ~ Q 3 L O V. ~ d N C = 0 ~ V y C N E~- p> a~ > ~a 2 ` U C U ~ N U ~ 0 V A z cn a V ~ , ~ > O Z U O O U a i ~ ~ m o ~ o ~ o ~ U O L mo C ~, c o~ C ~ °'a E a 3 o U ° L ago c ;.., •E o 3 o mo m c ~ U c L ~ 00 C ;_. -p S O U ~ ca c ~ Q L ~ O ~ ~~ m g r ~- m ~ o ~ co a a~i > ~ ~ a~~i c ~ 0 3 a ° > ~ ~ a~i _ + U a.
