Gonzalez \~b0~ · City Manager (~r tD HOME BUYERS WORKSHOP On November 16, 2000, the first in a series of Home Buyers Workshops was presented by the Housing Division in conjunction with the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County. The workshop was specifically geared to provide information to City staff, including the Police Department and Fire Department, on how to participate in homeownership programs. The Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County provided an in-depth presentation of "Welcome Home! 2000", a program established by the County for the purpose of mak'mg home ownership affordable. The program provides assistance to income-eligible participants in the form of low interest rates, down payment assistance, and closing cost assistance. Since this program is funded through bond funds, income limits are not as stringent as those set by U.S. HUD or the SHIP Program. Therefore, a family of three with an annual income of $66,220 may qualify for assistance under this program, while the same family would be limited to an income of $32,100 under programs funded by U.S. HUD. The Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County has agreed to conduct another workshop specifically geared for teachers of the Miami-Dare County Public Schools system. This workshop will be scheduled at the convenience of the teachers interested in attending. Attached is a copy of the brochure for the "Welcome Home! 2000" program which was distributed at the workshop. Attachment c: Christina M.
