A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CO-NAMING
THAT PORTION OF MERIDIAN AVENUE LOCATED
BETWEEN 39TH STREET AND BARRY AVENUE AS "REV.
JAMES P. MURPHY WAY".
WHEREAS, for fifteen years, Reverend James P. Murphy served
the Miami Beach community as pastor of St. Patrick's Church and
School and has recently been transferred to Our Lady of The Lakes
in Miami Lakes, Florida; and
WHEREAS, due to his contributions to the City of Miami Beach,
the Community Affairs Committee considered a proposal on March 8,
1996, to co-name that portion of Meridian Avenue located between
39th Street and Barry Avenue in honor of Reverend James P. Murphy
and submitted said proposal to the Mayor and City Commission for
approval; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V of Miami Beach City Code
Chapter 39, the Mayor and City Commission considered the aforesaid
co-naming and voted in favor of co-naming that portion of Meridian
Avenue located between 39th Street and Barry Avenue as "Rev. James
P. Murphy Way".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the portion of
Meridian Avenue located between 39th Street and Barry Avenue is
hereby co-named as IIRev. James P. Murphy Wayll.
