RESOLUTION NUMBER 96-21979
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROPRIATING $10,395 FROM
REALLOCATED BOND FUND 351 INTO EXISTING WORK ORDER
NUMBER 2066 TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR UNBUDGETED
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AT FIRE STATION #4.
WHEREAS, the City must implement environmental compliance restoration work
at Fire Station #4 in order to bring the facility back into compliance with State and County
environmental regulations; and
WHEREAS, funding in the amount of $10,395 is available in Reallocation Bond
Fund 351.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the appropriation of
$10,395 from Reallocated Bond Fund 351 into existing Work Order Number 2066 to
provide for required environmental services is approved.

Approve the resolution.
BACKGROUND
During a recent inspection of the underground storage tank facility at Sewer Pumping
Station #19 at 6850 Indian Creek Drive, a representative of the Dade County Department
of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) noticed what is believed to be an
improperly abandoned underground heating oil tank associated with Fire Station #4, which
is located immediately adjacent to Pumping Station #19. Following discovery of the
abandoned tank, the DERM issued the City a Notice of Non-Compliance.
In order to bring the facility back into compliance with the regulations of the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection and the DERM, the City will have to verify whether
or not a tank is present and if so, have it properly taken out of service (excavated & removed
or cleaned & filled with concrete). Further, if soil and/or groundwater contamination are
discovered, they will also have to be remediated.
The required work will be funded through Work Order Number 2066, which has historically
been used to fund environmental compliance restoration work at various City facilities. The
necessary funds are available in reallocated Bond Fund 351. The funds will be expended
. through an amendment to an existing Professional Service Agreement.
CONCLUSION
The City Commission should authorize the appropriation of $10,395 from Reallocated Bond
Fund 351 into existing Work Order Number 2066 to provide for the required environmental
services.
