RESOLUTION NO. 2001-24267
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM MERCEDES BENZ USA, LLC,
OF FIVE (5) BICYCLES, VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $10,000, FOR USE BY THE
MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, five (5) of the bicycles that the Police Department has now have been in service
in excess of five years and have reached the end of their useful service life; and
WHEREAS, Mercedes Benz USA, LLC desires to donate five (5) Mercedes Benz Police
Mountain type bicycles, including all accessories, valued at approximately $10,000.00, to replace
the five (5) bicycles that have reached the end of their useful service life; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department will use the donated bicycles to replace the older
bicycles and deploy them in its continuing community policing efforts throughout the City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission herein accept a donation from Mercedes Benz USA, LLC, offive (5) police bicycles,
valued at approximately $10,000, for use by the Miami Beach Police Department.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 21:st day of February 2001.

FROM MERCEDES BENZ USA, LLC, OF FIVE (5) BICYCLES, FOR A
TOTAL ESTIMATED VALUE OF $10,000, FOR USE BY THE MIAMI
BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
The Police Department currently has five (5) police bicycles that have reached the end of their useful
service life. Mercedes Benz USA, LLC, desires to donate to the Police Department five (5) new
Mercedes Benz Police type Mountain bicycles, complete with all accessories necessary for police
use. The bicycles are valued at approximately $2,000 each for a total estimated value of$IO,OOO.
These five new bicycles will be used to replace the older bicycles and will be used by the Police
Department in its community policing efforts throughout the City.
There will be a press conference announcing the donation of the bicycles from Mercedes Benz to the
City in the first week of March, 2001. The Mayor and City Commission will be notified of the date,
time, and location of the press conference so that they may attend.
The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the Resolution
accepting this kind and generous donation to our City from Mercedes Benz USA..
