ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION Adopt the Resolution. BACKGROUND The Loews Miami Beach Hotel wishes to donate $5,000 towards the purchase of low pressure nozzles to use in conjunction with "pressllre regulating valves" to help fight fires in hotels and other high-rise buildings throughout the City of Miami Beach. These nozzles operate at lower pressures than standard nozzles, allowing for a greater safety margin in the setting of pressure regulating valves in high-rise applications. Additionally, these nozzles increase firefighter efficiency by reducing fatigue from nozzle reaction forces. CONCLlJSION The adoption of this Resolution will enable the Fire Department to accept the $5,000 donation from the Loews Miami Beach Hotel to purchase low pressure nozzles to use with "pressure regulating valves" for firefighters. .,AI1.~;r: JMG:ttmB:FJ 1JA F:\FlRE\SALL\FlREPREV\COMMMEM.RES Agenda Item C1G Date If-Ii -01
