RESOLUTION NO. 96-22029
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING
FIVE MEMBERS TO THE MARINE AUTHORITY, WITH A
TERM EXPIRATION DATE OF APRIL 6, 1998.
WHEREAS, Chapter 7, Sections 7-17 through Sections 7-23 creates a Marine Authority for
the City of Miami Beach whose duties, composition, and term of office is as prescribed by Chapter
7 of the Code of the City of Miami Beach; and
and
WHEREAS, the terms of the current members of the Marine Authority have now expired;
WHEREAS, the continuation of the Authority is necessary for the safety of persons and
property within the City; and
WHEREAS, the continuation of the Authority is necessary to enforce the standards and
regulations as prescribed by Chapter 7;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the following persons be
re-appointe.d to the Marine Authority of the City of Miami Beach: Lee Spiegelman, Jack Bernstein,
Brian McDonough, Joseph Fletcher, and Captain John Gonzalez.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:

MARINE AUTHORITY. Current term ended April 6, 1996. Two (2) year term.
Five (5) members, appointed by the City Manager with the approval of the City
Commission. Members of the Marine Authority shall have resided in the city for more
than one year preceding their appointment and be of good reputation and standing in the
community. Appointments shall consist of individuals who have had previous experience
in the operation of, or inspection of, either marine vessels or marine facilities
including experience in various types of boat activities, including fishing in the
waterways of the city.
