Due to the continued water supply problems in South Florida, Miami-Dade County and the South
Horida Water Management District have imposed additional restrictions on the use of water. These
restrictions include the requirement to stop operations of all ornamental or decorative fountains and
limits the use of pressure cleaning to safety, health, sanitation, or medical use only.
Effective immediately, I have directed that all decorative and ornamental fountain in the City be shut
down and the water collected for irrigation use. I have also directed that all pressure cleaning
operation in the City be halted. The exception to the pressure cleaning will be Lincoln Road and the
West side of Ocean Drive for health and sanitation reasons due to the mount of food that is dropped
from the sidewalk cares and the visitors to these areas. Additionally, pressure cleaning crews hours
will be adjusted to comply with the time of day requirements as set by the South Florida Water
Management District for this operation.
I have also requested that signs be placed in the empty fountains that informs the public that the City
is doing it's part in the conservation of water during this crisis, The crews that perform the normal
pressure cleaning functions will be reassigned to other projects during this period until the water
restrictions are lifted.
