SUBJECT: Muss Park Renovation Project/ rk Temporary Closure
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform the Mayor and City Commission
that the Muss Park Renovation project is set to begin on January 30, 2017.
The existing pavilion and playground will be demolished for the construction of a new LEED
Gold Certified, 4000 sq ft pavilion and replacement playground. The new pavilion includes a
2,841 sq ft open area, ADA accessible restrooms, reception/office, serving kitchen, storage
room and mechanical room. The design integrates an automated door system that allows the
pavilion to function as an open pavilion and as a fully enclosed space during inclement
weather.
The construction is anticipated to be completed in August 2017. Muss Park will be closed for
seven months while the park is under construction. The Parks and Recreation department is
aware of the closure and have planned accordingly. The programming at Muss Park has
already been relocated to Scott Rakow Youth Center.
