Designation of Voluntary Smoke ee Zones
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to invite you to the designation of the voluntary
smoke-free zones at the Fifth Street beach on January 17, 2017 at 4:00 PM. The event will
include guest speakers from three organizations that have been supportive of this initiative:
the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, the Surfrider Foundation — Miami
Chapter, and a local non-profit, VolunteerCleanUp.org. The designation will be followed by a
beach clean up.
In an effort to reduce the environmental and health impacts of cigarettes and cigarette litter,
smoke-free zones were approved for Fifth Street and 86 Street.
