SUBJECT: DADE BLVD. TEMPORARY SIGNALIZED CROSSING AT 17TH STREET/BAY ROAD
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide a construction update related to the West
Avenue Bridge Project.
The Public Works Department is currently coordinating the installation of a temporary push
button pedestrian crossing at the bridge, on Dade Boulevard at 17th Street/Bay Road in efforts to
improve pedestrian safety and mobility. This installation is scheduled to take place this
weekend, weather permitting. Should the installation not take place, Police will be directing traffic
in order to maintain pedestrian safety. These improvements will remain in place throughout the
construction of the Venetian Bridge Project.
Our Public Information Officer for the project, Heather Leslie, of HML Public Outreach, will
maintaining regular communications with residents and business owners within the
