The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to transmit a resolution adopted by
the Marine and Waterfront Protection Authority (MWPA) during their January 10, 2017
meeting. This resolution is a recommendation to the City Commission regarding the
design and build of a motorized and non -motorized vessels floating dock.
During the course of several monthly meetings, after review and discussions which
included presentations made by Roger Buell, Assistant City Engineer; Milos
Majstorovic, Transportation Operations Supervisor; and Joseph Stanton from Shoreline
Foundation Inc., the Marine and Waterfront Protection Authority adopted the following
resolution:
The Marine and Waterfront Protection Authority approves the design proposed
and presented by Shoreline Foundation Inc. jointly with the Public Works and
Transportation Departments of the City of Miami Beach, to build a floating
dock for motorized and non -motorized vessels at the Maurice Gibb Park. The
purpose of this floating dock is to better coordinate launching and dockage of
motorized and non -motorized vessels in this high -traffic watercraft area.
Action: Motion for this resolution was made by Dr. Morris Sunshine, seconded by
Robert Christoph, Jr. (Vote: 8-0) Resolution passed.

Joe,
We've come up with a sketch to "lower" the seawall height which will eliminate the switch
back design. We would still maintain a minimum 5.7 NAVD "barrier" with a knee wall east of
the pathway. By building a ramped seawall cap, we can lower the top of the gangway from 5.7
to 3.7. This will allow a 30' gangway to accommodate a sea level range of -0.8 to 3.7 and
remain in compliance with 1:12 slopes.
