SUBJECT: CIP Monthly Construction Project '+ Update
Below please find the monthly update for active City of Miami Beach construction projects under
the purview of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects.
Allison Park Redesign
Scope: Create a boundless ADA park with an accessible route from the play area and
beach area to the existing restrooms building.
Status: Construction began December 2016. Project is 10% complete and scheduled for
completion June 2017.
Beach Lifeguard Towers Replacement
Scope: Construction of 35 lifeguard towers.
Status: Construction began March 2015. Thirteen towers have been completed and
placed at their permanent location. Two towers are currently in progress and are
scheduled for completion March 2017. Seven more towers have been contracted and
materials ordered and are scheduled for completion September 2017.
Biscayne Point Island Entry
Scope: Beautification project of the neighborhood entryway to Biscayne Point Island.
Status: Construction began September 2016. Concrete curbs and sidewalks have been
completed. Project is 43% complete overall and scheduled for completion summer 2017.
Central Bayshore South Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements bounded by 34th St. to the north, Pine Tree Dr. to
the east, 28 St. to the south and Prairie Ave to the west and Meridian Ave from 28 St. to
Dade Blvd.
Status: Water main design completed and construction is ongoing. Drainage design is
currently at a 75 %, however the City is re- evaluating the impact of the proposed road
elevations to the neighborhood homes.
Espanola Way Conversion
Scope: Conversion of Espanola Way into a pedestrian mall.
Status: Construction began August 2016. Project is 70% complete and scheduled for
substantial completion April 2017.
Flamingo Park Restroom Facility
Scope: Demolition of existing restrooms and construction of a new restroom /office
building.
Status: Construction began June 2016. Project is 75% complete and scheduled for
substantial completion spring 2017.
Kayak Launch Docks — Dickens & 73 Street
Scope: Construction of kayak launch with accessible gangway and floating platform.
Status: Construction began December 2016. Project is 5% complete and scheduled for
completion April 2017.
Muss Park Pavilion
Scope: Demolition of the existing pavilion and the construction of a new pavilion. The new
pavilion will be LEED Silver certified.
Status: Construction began January 2017. Project is 7% complete and scheduled for
completion August 2017.
Palm & Hibiscus Island Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on Palm and Hibiscus Islands.
Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 39% complete and scheduled for
completion late summer 2017.
South Pointe Drive Medians Uplighting
Scope: Installation of uplighting at the South Pointe Drive medians.
Status: Construction began March 2017. Project is scheduled for substantial completion
May 2017.
South Pointe Park Remediation — Water Feature
Scope: Construction of 4 new water features and plaza.
Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 57% complete and scheduled for
completion summer 2017.
Stormwater Pump Station at 19th Street
Scope: Installation of Stormwater Pump Station at 19th Street East of Meridian Avenue.
Status: Currently 60% Design. City and Design - Builder are exploring options for alternate
locations of the pump station site.
Sunset Islands 3 & 4 Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Sunset Islands 3 & 4 — Neighborhood improvement.
Status: Construction began June 2015. Project is 75% complete and scheduled for
completion summer 2017.
Venetian Islands Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on San Marino, Dilido and Rivo Alto Islands.
Status: Construction began May 2013. Project is 66% complete and scheduled for
completion summer 2017.
