Brooks, Assistant City Manager Mark Taxis, Assistant City Manager Eric Carpenter, Assistant City Manager Susanne Torriente, Assistant City Manager Saul Frances, Parking Director Monica Beltran, Assistant Parking Director Jose Gonzalez, Transportation Director Alfred Feola, Chairman Members: Leif Bertrand Ray Breslin Marc Edelstein Alan Fishman Del Fruit William Hahne Sari Libbin JP Morgan Madeleine Romanello Deborah Ruggiero Richard Streim TO: Mayor Philip Levine and Members of the City Commission FROM: Transportation, Parking & Bicycle -Pedestrian Facilities Committee DATE: March 21, 2017 SUBJECT: Motions Members Present: Leif Bertrand; Ray Breslin; Marc Edelstein; Alfred Feola; JP Morgan; Alan Fishman; William Hahne; Madeleine Romanello; Richard Streim; and Del Fruit Members Absent: Sari Libbin and Deborah Ruggiero Dear Honorable Mayor and City Commission: On March 13th, the Transportation, Parking & Bicycle -Pedestrian Facilities Committee (TPBPFC) met and unanimously passed the below motions: Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety The TPBPFC recommends outlining bicycle laws in the MB Magazine — a full page in English/Spanish, emphasizing to pay attention as these laws will be enforced. Also, at intersections in bike lanes, place a bicycle specific stop sign in lane. Safe Walking Zones The TPBPFC recommends that in the spirit of the Miami Dade County Safe Streets Program, the City should require safe zones in all areas under construction so that pedestrians will have a safe route to walk when sidewalks are temporarily closed for construction purposes.
