Granado, City Clerk DATE: March 20, 2018 SUBJECT: RESULTS OF THE NON-BINDING QUESTIONNAIRE REGARDING POTENTIAL CREATION OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICTS TO FUND THE UNDERGROUNDING OF UTILITIES. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, a number of City residents expressed the desire for the City to explore the undergrounding of utilities in the following neighborhoods: 1) Alton Road between Michigan Avenue and 41st Street; 2) Alton Road between 41st Street and 63rd Street; and 3) North Bay Road between 44th Street and 64th Street / Pine Tree Drive Circle. On October 18, 2017, the Mayor and City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2017-30058, accepting the recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee, and approving a non-binding questionnaire regarding the potential creation of special assessment districts to fund the undergrounding of utilities in these specified neighborhoods. On February 5, 2018, the City mailed out the non-binding questionnaire to properties located in the three specified neighborhoods, and requested that the completed questionnaires be returned to the City by March 7, 2018.
