RESOLUTION NO. 2001-24458
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REJECTING ALL
BIDS RECEIVED, PURSUANT TO INVITATION TO BID NO. 19-
00/01 FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) LIFEGUARD TOWERS.
WHEREAS, the recommended lifeguard stand did not aesthetically compliment
the existing stands used by the Miami Beach Patrol (see attached photograph); and
WHEREAS, the stand design, although functional, did not blend with the
existing stands and convey an image that was consistent with the unique design of the
Miami Beach lifeguard stands that have now become world famous; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that three new stands, would be constructed by
the Property Management Division over the next several months with the first one
anticipated to be completed in July of 2001.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and
City Commission hereby authorize the rejection of all bids received, pursuant to
Invitation to Bid No. 19- 00/01 for the purchase oftwo (2) Lifeguard Towers.
PASSED and ADOPTED this~ day of June 2001.

THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) LIFEGUARD TOWERS.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS:
On February 5, 2001, Invitation to Bid No, 19- 00/01 was issued for the purchase of two (2)
lifeguard towers for the Beach Patrol Division. These lifeguard towers are constructed of molded
fiberglass mounted on a stainless steel supporting structure, and will be used to replace existing
structures located on 35th Street and 53rd Street. The option of a prefabricated lifeguard tower
was evaluated by Beach Patrol administration, and although not aesthetically complimentary
determined to be functional.
On February 5, 2001, Invitation to Bid No.l9-00/01 was issued with an opening date of February
26, 200 I. Procurement staff along with Demandstar.com issued bid notices to prospective bidders,
resulting in eight (8) vendors requesting bid packages, and the receipt of one (I) responsive bid,
