A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO.
1 TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE IBI GROUP,
INC., DATED APRIL 2, 2007, PURSUANT TO REQUEST FOR
QUALIFICATIONS NO. 19-04105 FOR DESIGN, ENGINEERING,
PERMITTING, AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION SERVICES
FOR THE DADE BOULEVARD BIKE PATH PROJECT, IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $94,321; SAID AMENDMENT FOR THE PROVISION
OF ADDITIONAL DESIGN, PERMITTING, AND CONSTRUCTION FOR
THE ADOPTION OF NECESSARY MODIFICATIONS TO THE DESIGN
PLANS OF THE NORTHERN BANK OF COLLINS CANAL FROM THE
VENETIAN CAUSEWAY TO 23r° STREET; WITH FUNDING FROM
PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED CITY CENTER REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY (RDA) FUNDS.
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2006 the Mayor and City Commission adopted
Resolution No. 2006-26399 approving a professional services agreement with The IBI
Group pursuant to RFQ 19-04105, for the Programming, Design, Construction
Documents, Permitting, Bid and Award and Construction Management Services for the
Bicycle/Pedestrian/Greenway Projects to be known as the AGN (the Agreement); and
WHEREAS, the scope of services addresses two main items: item one includes
an assessment of the existing Draft Bicycle Master Plan for functionality, mobility, and
safety; item two consists of the design and engineering of the Dade Boulevard Bike Path
and the development of its construction documents; and
WHEREAS, the width of the Dade Boulevard corridor is constricted on the south
by the Collins Canal and the existing cross section identifies some width limitations
which warrant the stabilization of the Collins Canal embankment, since they cannot
provide adequate soil support to the proposed bike path to ensure the safety of its users;
and
WHEREAS, as such, an embankment stabilization and subsequent restoration
project are an integral component of the Dade Boulevard Bike Path project, since it
provides the foundation necessary to ensure the structural integrity of the bike path; and
WHEREAS, the development and survey of the proposed Dade Boulevard Bike
Path has identified the need to continue the currently proposed design for the Collins
Canal seawall between Allon Road and Meridian Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the total cost to modify the Collins Canal Seawall plans, including
construction administration services, is $94,321.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute
Amendment No. 1 to the agreement between the City and The IBI Group, Inc., dated
April 2, 2007, pursuant to Request For Qualifications No. 19-04105 for design,
engineering, permitting, and construction administration services for the Dade Boulevard
Bike Path Project, in an amount not to exceed $94,321; said amendment for the
provision of additional design, permitting, and construction for the adoption of necessary
modrfications to the design pans of the northern bank of Collins Canal from the Venetian
Causeway to 23`0 Street; with funding from previously appropriated City Center
Redevelopment Agency (RDA) Funds.
