SUBJECT: 777 BUILDING AT 1701 MERIDIAN CLOSURES DURING MLK AND
PRESIDENT'S DAY WEEKENDS FOR MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL
UPGRADES
The purpose of the LTC is to notify the Mayor and City Commission on the impending
closure of the 777 Building at 1701 Meridian during the weekends of the Martin Luther King
and President's Day Holidays.
The building is scheduled to receive a new HVAC system. In order to accomplish this
replacement, FPL must upgrade the building's electrical capacity. This necessitates turning
off the electricity in the entire building for an extended amount of time. In order to minimize
the loss of service to the public by the City Departments occupying the upper offices, as well
as to customers of first floor businesses, the City has coordinated with FPL to schedule the
work in the building during two consecutive weekends.
The retail tenants on the ground floor level have been consulted and notified regarding these
closures. The original dates proposed were during the November and December holidays,
which were adverse to the commercial retailers.
Notices will be posted on the building.
