SUBJECT: Transportation & Parking Committee Resolutions
Dear Mayor and Honorable City Commission:
Marvin Silverman The Transportation & Parking Committee met on March 2, 2009 and held a
discussion regarding Green Initiatives. As a result of this discussion, the members of
the Transportation & Parking Committee, made the following resolutions which
were unanimously approved by the committee.
1. All City departments should review how they use transportation in carrying
out their daily responsibilities and pursue methods that use less gasoline
such as bicycles/scooters/electric vehicles/hybrids, etc.
2. City should mandate no idling of City vehicles when not in use.
3. In instances, where practicable, such as Code Enforcement, Meter
Readers, Parking Enforcement and Fire Inspection, the City should
require employees to park at a set location and walk within a
reasonable radius of an area.
4. When possible, replace gasoline powered vehicles with green
alternative vehicles.
As an Advisory Committee, we sincerely ask that consideration be given to the
above resolutions.
