Gonzalez, City Manager ~-(-~ DATE: March 30, 2009 SUBJECT: Miami-Dade County Days on April 1 and 2 The purpose of this LTC is to provide the Mayor and City Commission with information in advance of Miami-Dade County Days on April 1 and 2. Additionally, the Legislative Report for the week of March 23-27: the fourth week of the legislative session is attached. The legislative calendar for April 1 and 2 is attached. On Wednesday, the Senate will have a full day of committee meetings; and on Thursday morning the House Appropriations subcommittees will meet; and the Senate will be in session. The lobby team is working to identify opportunities for the attendees to meet with legislators; however. Miami-Dade County legislators do not schedule meetings during Dade Days, and since the legislative calendar is extremely busy, individual meetings with other legislators are unlikely. At this time, the following schedule has been confirmed: April 1, 2009 7:30 a.m. Check in begins at Miami International Airport, Concourse J -Miami Air International Charter. Your boarding pass will be given to you when you check in; Dade Days signs will direct you to the correct location. 9:30 Charter Flight Departs Miami. 11:00 Charter Flight Arrives in Tallahassee. Charter buses will take the group to the Capitol, from the airport. Luggage will be taken to your hotel, where it can be picked up when you check in. 11:45 Paella Fest on the Capitol Plaza. 1:30 p.m. Briefing on the City's Legislative Agenda; will be held in the Conference Room in 1401 in the Capitol. 2:00 p.m. Economic Stimulus presentation by Representative David Rivera. This will take place on the lower level of the Capitol, in Cabinet Meeting Room LL03. 4:00-5:30 Senate Majority Leader Alex Diaz de la Portilla invites all Dade Days participants to stop by his office, located in Room 330 of the Senate Office Building. 4:p0 Senate Regulated Industries Committee -Senate Bills 880 (Condominium Associations) and 998 (Condominium and Homeowners' Associations) will be considered by the committee at this meeting. 8:00 p.m. Mambo Kings reception at E. "Phis week, we have continued our discussions with DBPR relative to this issue. Anchoring and Mooring Florida \\%ildlile bill. HB 1423, had a strikc all amendment in General Govertvnent Policy Council on 3127. The strike all has new language which delineates in more detail the conditions under which a local government can pass an ordinance with FWC approval related to anchoring and mooring. The strikc all also contains the langua~c esk~blishing a pilot project to explore potential options liar regulating the anchoring or mooring of vessels outside the marked boundaries of a public mooring field.
