13808RESOLUTION N0. 13808 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Sections 1 and 5 of Resolution No. 13713 be and the same are hereby amended by deleting from each of said sections that portion thereof reading as follows: "(2) SHALL THE CITY CHARTER BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE AS FOLLOWS: FROM AND AFTER THE PRIMARY ELECTION IN NOVEMBER 1971, ANY OFFICER OF THE CITY ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE THEN HOLDING SUCH OFFICE, AND WHO HAVING THERETOFORE OR THEREAFTER HAS HELD SAID OFFICE FOR A PERIOD OF EIGHT YEARS, HE SHALL, UPON THE TERMINATION OF HIS SERVICE, AND UPON HIS HAVING ATTAINED THE AGE OF 55 YEARS, BE PAID BY THE CITY DURING HIS LIFETIME, A SUM EQUAL TO 40% OF THE AMOUNT OF THE ANNUAL SALARY THAT HE WAS PAID BY THE CITY AT THE TIME OF THE TERMINATION OF HIS SERVICE, AND THE CITY SHALL LIKEWISE PAY TO SUCH OFFICER IN LIKE MANNER AND UNDER LIKE CONDITIONS A SUM EQUAL TO 50% OF SUCH SALARY IF SUCH OFFICER HAS SO SERVED FOR A PERIOD OF 12 YEARS; AND A SUM EQUAL TO 60% IF SUCH OFFICER HAS SO SERVED FOR A PERIOD OF 16 YEARS, AND A SUM EQUAL TO 80% IF SUCH OFFICER HAS SERVED FOR 20 OR MORE YEARS; AND WHEREBY THE SAID ELECTED OFFICER WILL CONTRIBUTE AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE AMOUNTS CONTRIBUTED BY THE GENERAL EMPLOYEES UNDER THE CITY'S GENERAL PENSION FUND."
