SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION/SMALL
DEVELOPMENT CENTERS
BUSINESS
The Small Business Administration (SBA) provides financial, technical and management assistance
to help Americans start, run and grow their businesses. Small Business Development Centers
(SBDC) provide quality business and economic development assistance to existing businesses and
prospective business owners to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity and
improved management skills. The Economic Development Department is partnering with both of
these organizations in order to continue to provide quality business assistance to the City's
community.
Yesterday, August 27, 2001, the Economic Development Department and SBDC walked the Collins
Avenue Hotel Corridor from Lincoln Road up to 23rd Street interviewing the business owners and
managers conducting a needs assessment during the Collins Avenue Reconstruction Project.
The overwhelming response indicated that the business owners and managers are looking for
compensation rather than any kind of financing assistance. However, the Economic Development
Department will be working with the SBDC to come up with alternative solutions.
Please contact me if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding this project.
