RESOLUTION NO. 2001-24605
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING TO
CONSIDER A WAIVER OF DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS UNDER
SECTION 142-425(d) OF THE CITY CODE, APPLICABLE TO THE 17TH
STREET GARAGE, TO PERMIT AN INFORMATIONAL SIGN ON THE
GARAGE IDENTIFYING ITS PROXIMITY TO LINCOLN ROAD, WHICH
SIGN WOULD EXCEED THE APPLICABLE SIGN REGULATIONS,
WOULD BE SUBJECT TO DESIGN REVIEW APPROVAL, AND WOULD
REMAIN UNTIL THE PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE CONNECTION
BETWEEN THE CONVENTION CENTER AND LINCOLN ROAD IS
ESTABLISHED.
WHEREAS, Lincoln Road is one ofthe most significant commercial centers in the City of
Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, Lincoln Road's location and accessibility are not readily apparenl to visitors
approaching from the north on 17th Street, or from the Convention Center complex; and
WHEREAS, in order to improve the awareness to visitors of the location and accessibilily
to Lincoln Road, and Ihe availability of parking to access Lincoln Road in the 17th Street Garage, the
Lincoln Road Marketing Association has proposed placing an informational sign on the facade of
the 17th Street Garage, to inform visitors ofthe proximily of the garage to Lincoln Road; and
WHEREAS, such proposed sign would exceed the applicable size limitations under the Land
Development Regulations, however, the sign would be subject to design review approval, and only
remain until the Pennsylvania A venue connection between the Convention Center and Lincoln Road
is established; and
WHEREAS, plans will be presented to the Commission depicting the proposed design and
dimensions ofthe sign, which thereafter will be subject to design review approval procedures; and
WHEREAS, a waiver of development regulations under section 142-425(d) of the Land
Development Regulations for the 17th Street Garage is requested to allow the proposed sign to
exceed the applicable size limitalions, and to allow the sign to remain until the Pennsylvania Avenue
connection is established;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a Public Hearing shall
be held on October 17, 200 I, to consider the above request for waiver of developmenl regulations,
in the City Commission Chambers a11700 Convention Cenler Drive, Miami Beach, Florida and the
City Clerk is hereby authorized and direcled to publish and distribute the appropriate public notice
of said public hearing al which lime all interested parties will be heard.

LINCOLN ROAD INFORMATIONAL SIGN
Please place on the September 20th Commission agenda a resolution to set a public hearing that
will waive development regulations for a Lincoln Road information sign on the 17th Street
Garage. This will be subject to design review and approval and until such time as the
Pennsylvania Avenue connection is completed between the Convention Center and Lincoln
Road.
