In June of 2009, Audi of America approached the City with the idea of locating the Audi Art Pavilion in
Miami Beach from November 30, 2009 through December 5, 2009, in a temporary structure located on the
spoil area (sand area) east of the City-owned parking lot at 46th Street and Collins Avenue. This structure
will serve several purposes throughout this period. First, on November 30 and December 1, Audi will
unveil the redevelopment of their signature line, the A8, to worldwide media outlets and national auto
dealerships. Audi will bring 750 - 1,000 leading international lifestyle and automotive press to Miami
Beach to cover this event, and estimates that they will generate at least 2,000 room nights as a result of
this. The media exposure value for Miami Beach is immeasurable, not to mention the positive impact on
our local hotels and businesses.
Subsequently, the structure will house collections from the Design Miami Art Fair and the Rubell Family
collection in what is likely to become awell-received satellite event during Art Basel Miami Beach. The
structure will require significant load-in and load-out, beginning October 26 and ending on or about
December 12. Other elements to be utilized include catering, performances and fireworks. Audi is
working with the Fontainebleau and Eden Roc hotels, as well as the two neighboring condominium
associations, and the City to coordinate the events and reduce impacts to the area. Audi will pay for all
applicable special event and permit fees.
As a result of several planning meetings between the City and Audi, and in consideration of the extended
use of the location, Audi has agreed to donate seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) to the City toward
the design, construction and installation of a tot lot in or about the area of the 46th Street and Collins
Avenue Parking Lot. It should also be noted that Audi has also agreed to be the Title Sponsor of this
year's Sleepless Night. A companion item is included in today's agenda recommending acceptance of the
several sponsorships for Sleepless Ni ht, which includes Audi's commitment.

Subsequently, the structure will house collections from the Design Miami Art Fair and the

As a result of several planning meetings between the City and Audi, and inconsideration for
