A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF EIGIITY
(80) BANNERS FROM MAY 12TH TO MAY 27TH, 2000, FOR AQUA GIRL 2000, AS
REQUESTED BY THE APPLICANT AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: 41ST
STREET, FROM ALTON ROAD TO PINETREE DRIVE; COLLINS AVENUE, FROM
7TH STREET TO LINCOLN ROAD; W ASHINGTON AVENUE, FROM 7TH STREET TO
16TH STREET; AND MACARTHUR CAUSEWAY, FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
LIMITS TO ALTON ROAD; SAID BANNERS TO BE AFFIXED TO LIGHT POLES IN
THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY, MEASURING 3' X 7' AND HAVING COpy AND
DESIGN AS SHOWN ON THE ATTACHED DRAWINGS, THE ADMINISTRATION
FURTHER RECOMMENDS THAT THESE BANNERS BE INSTALLED NO EARLIER
THAN MAY 11TH, 2000, AND REMOVED BY MAY 30TH, 2000.
WHEREAS, the Aqua Girl Weekend 2000 supports the Dade Human Rights Foundation
Women's Fund with an expected attendance of 4-5,000; and
WHEREAS, Aqua Girl Weekend 2000 events in Miami Beach are to be held May 26
through May 29, 2000; and
WHEREAS, in order to publicize Aqua Girl Weekend 2000 and draw the attention of the
media and the public at large, the Applicant has requested light pole banners, measuring 36 inches
by 7 feet, be placed at: McArthur Causeway, from the Miami Beach City Limits to Alton Road;
41st Street, from Alton Road to Pinetree Drive; Collins Avenue, from 7th Street to Lincoln Road;
and Washington Avenue, from 7th Street to 16th Street; and
WHEREAS, said banners will be installed no earlier than May 11th, and removed by May
30, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the Applicant has requested approval and authorization for the placement
of a total of eighty (80) banners; and
WHEREAS, the Applicant will post a performance bond to ensure the removal of the
banners by May 30, 2000, and will ensure that any damage to light poles will be repaired at its
expense, and will meet all other applicable City requirements; and
WHEREAS, City Code Section 82-411 (d) requires that the Mayor and City Commission
approve the installation of temporary banners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission herein approve and authorize the placement of eighty (80) banners from May 12th
to May 27th, 2000, for Aqua Girl 2000, as requested by the Applicant at the following: 41st
Street, from Alton Road to Pinetree Drive; Collins Avenue, from 7th Street to 16th Street; and
MaCarthur Causeway, from the City of Miami Beach limits to Alton Road; said banners to be
affixed to Light poles in the public right-of-way, measuring 3 'x?' and having copy and design as
shown on the attached drawings. The Administration further recommends that these banners be
installed no earlier than May II, 2000, and removed by May 30, 2000.

When May 26-29, 2000 Memorial Weekend
Where Events are held in a variety of locations on South Beach and the offi-
cial hotel is located right on the ocean in the heart of South Beach,
which will also host the Aqua Boll Beach Party.
Why The weekend supports the Dade Human Rights Foundation WOMEN'S
FUND. DHRF is a not-For-profit corporation whose primary mission is to
advance education and raise public awareness with respect to gay, les-
bian, bisexual and transgender issues. The mission of the recently
established DHRF WOMEN'S FUND is to educate, empower and unite
the women's community in South Florida by recognizing, educating
and supporting lesbian health and rights issues.

OpeninG NiGht VIP Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction: A glamourous evening
with music, cocktails, hors douevres, local and national celebrity guests and a
chance to bid on a variety of great silent auction items including fine art, dinner
and theater packages, vacations, electronics, jewelry and auto-
graphed memorabilia.
Signature Concert: The beautiful Jackie Gleason Theater will
. host this special evening featuring a national recording artist.
AGua Beach Ball: Get wet - at our first annual pool/beach party. A fun-filled day

Sweet Charity: Continuing on the success of last years event first annual fund-rais-
ing event, this year will be the most extravagant women's dance event to ever hit
the beach. World renowned DJ's and beautiful go-go dancers will keep you danc-

MIAMI PRIDE 2000: Join thousands of South Floridians for Miami's annual pride
parade and pride festival. Music, live entertainment, food and games will be the
order of the day. Transportation will be provided to and from the host hotel.

been pursued by a variety of brands including Gucci fashion, Waterford crystal,
Movado watches, American Express, Motrin, and Subaru. A gay market survey by
Simmons Market Research Bureau conduc,ed in late 1996 finds that 28.5% of gay
and lesbian household incomes exceed $50,000 while 21 % surpass $100,000
annually. The gay and lesbian market is estimated at spending over $514 billion dol-
lars annually.

MARKETING
Marketing is an intrical part of successful events and fund-raising.
Aqua Girl™ 2000 will utilize a focused national marketing strate-
gy that includes direct mail, local and national advertising, public
relations, host committee affiliations and on.line promotions.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Media Alerts and Press Releases will be distributed to local and national media
throughout the campaign. Last year we received coverage from a variety of local and
national publications including: The Advocate, Miamigo, Ocean Drive On-Line, Wire
Television, TWN, She, Unique, Power 96 and the Miami Herald.
ADVERTISING
Aqua Girl™ ads will run in a variety of local, regional and national publications ex:
Advocate, Curve, Washington Blade, Southern Voice, Watermark, TWN, Miamigo
and She Magazine. Over 500 posters will be distributed throughout the country as
well as over 30,000 invitations and Hyers. This campaign will produce over 1 million
gross impressions during the four month campaign.
ON-LINE MARKETING
This year we will have a comprehensive website with up to the minute event informa-
tion, photographs, travel information and sponsor hot links. The website and the event
itself will be listed on search engines and g&l websites across the world.
