JP Morgan Dear Mayor and Honorable City Commission:
Josephine Pompanos
Marvin Silverman The Transportation & Parking Committee met an December 7, 2009, and
scoff Timm held a discussion regarding the current fine structure for parking violations.
Seth Wasserman The Committee strongly agrees that the fine structure should be increased, as it
has not changed for aver ten (10) years. Since these fines are ordained by
Miami-Dade County Code, the Committee unanimously agrees that the Mayor
and City Commission should take initiative in reaching out to the County
Commission with this request.
The Committee is suggesting that the $18.00 fine for overtime parking should
be raised to $28A0, as in some cases, it becomes less expensive to receive an
$18.00 fine than having to pay for event parking and/ar valet parking in the City.
it should be noted that there may be a possible limit of the fine to $30.00 by
Florida Statute.
Below is the fee schedule far parking tickets issued in Miami-Dade County:
Miami-Dade Fee Schedule for Parking Ticke#s
Overtime Parking $38.00
Restricted or Improper Parking $23.00
Prohibited Parking $2g,Op
No Valid License Plate $33.00

As an Advisory Committee, we sincerely ask that this issue be addressed.
Sincerely,
Transportation and Parking Committee
